Huawei officially announces MatePad Edge 2-in-1 tablet PC

Huawei announced the MatePad Edge, a 2-in-1 tablet that combines PC experience in one device. This new device has been building hype for weeks, and the mystery is now officially solved.

The new teaser image published on the Chinese social media site Weibo confirms its first look. Based on the teaser, the device has a large touch screen display and a MateBook-like keyboard with a magnetic dock.

The user can attach the tablet to the keyboard to use the PC mode. If the user is not using the PC setup, the stand can be used to place the tablet on a flat surface, like a table. Furthermore, it supports a Huawei stylus for creative works.

The MatePad Edge has two modes, both of which are activated in the use cases. For example, when the user docks the tablet on top of the keyboard, it initiates the desktop mode, and as soon as it detaches, the device reverts to the tablet mode.

Although Huawei kept mum on this device’s specifications but a leak has some interesting information that you should know.

The Huawei MatePad Edge will equip a 14.2-inch OLED screen, which is a pretty large display to interact and it’s almost equivalent to the MatePad notebook. This will ensure that the user won’t feel odd while conducting productive tasks in PC mode.

Also, the screen may have an anti-reflective coating to protect the view and provide a better user experience.

Meanwhile, this tablet will use a new Kirin 9-series chipset, which was highly expected for efficiency and high performance. It will come in two colors – Silver and Deep Space Gray, and the Chinese tech maker will pack this tablet with HarmonyOS 6 operating system, which will make the entire PC to tablet transition possible thanks to its deep collaboration with the on-board hardware.

Huawei will unveil the MatePad Edge 2-in-1 tablet on November 25 alongside the Mate 80 series and Mate X7 foldable.
